Falcon's Teamwork and Passing on display in Win over Toms River Riptide
Tied for first place with 3-0 record
On a brutally hot September afternoon, the unbeaten Flying Falcons of Wall Township took to their home field for a contest against the equally unbeaten Riptide of Toms River. The Falcons played as a team and passed the ball to each other all over the field. Right from the start, it was a physical game with each team trying to assert themselves for the advantage. Sophie was everywhere, making great play after great play. Early on, the Riptide got in many good shots, but Jenny stopped them all. Shannon fought hard, despite getting knocked down a few times. Marissa repeatedly passed the ball up the outside line to feed the front line with scoring opportunities. The first score came a full twenty six minutes into the game when Rebecca took a pass from Shelly and kicked the ball through the hands of the Toms River goalie for the 1-0 lead.
The heat and the Riptide pounded the Falcons in the second half. Jenny made spectacular stop after stop, including diving on the ball to prevent a Toms River goal. At the fifty minute mark, Rebecca took a pass from Ava, and sent the ball into the Toms River goal for the 2-0 lead. The Falcons held on from there, stopping the increasingly frustrated Riptide for a victory and a 3-0 record to start this season.
