September 14, 2008 Freehold - In the heat and humidity of a surprisingly warm September afternoon, the Falcons took the field, ready to do battle with Freehold. The first half was exhausting. The heat and humidity hit the Falcons hard with players substituting in quickly. The first half ended with the Falcons down 1-0.
Refreshed by oranges, sprays from the fertilizer wand and Coach Tom’s words of encouragement, the Falcons came out of the gate ready to score. Sophie was everywhere, feeding the ball to the outside for Rebecca and Marissa.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, Julia drilled the ball into Freehold’s net with the help of great passes down the field to tie the game. This first goal of the day, insipred the Falcons to push even harder. A mere six minutes later, Shelly took a pass from Emma and knocked it past the Freehold goalie. For the next nine minutes, the Falcons punched the ball deep into Freehold territory, controlling the ball and the game. The game ended with the Falcons winning 2-1. It was the Falcons second come from behind victory in a row. Family and friends were thrilled with the Falcon’s tremendous effort.
