Wall Soccer club had four girls teams qualify to play in the Jefferson Cup this past weekend. The teams were the U11G Lady Magic, U12 Lizards, U14 Wombats, and the U17 Power. All teams should be proud to be accepted into this event which is considered one of the best in the country. The Wall Wombats had an amazing showing at the event, they were placed in the highest level bracket Manchester Flight and won their bracket.
Beating Cup/Warren County Ohio ( NSR # 9 ranked team in the US) 1-0. Then in their second game they defeated the Maryland State Champion Bethseda Freedom 3-0. Finishing bracket play against the Virginia Rush winning 3-0. By winning the bracket they qualified to move into the Semi-final of the event. The Wombats faced the (NSR # 8 ranked team in the country) Baltimore Bays and played an amazing match beating this quality team from Baltimore 2-1. The Wombats now were in the finals and on their third game of the day. They met their familiar foe Mount Laurel Power and lost a tough fought 2-1 defeat.
All in all it was an overall great showing for the girls side of the program and proves that we are on the right track with our program.
